Drone Week - Public Event: Discover Drones
This session explores how Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), aka Drones, are being used across industry sectors and how they are increasingly offering new business approaches and ways to boost the local economy. This friendly look at UAVs will highlight key aspects of the safety and legal side of things. Come along if you have ever considered buying a mini-drone for business or leisure!
Sessions will be of around 1 hour duration, starting at 14.00 and 16.00, with a maximum capacity of no more than 60 people per session.
14.00: Presentation + Q&A, with a focus on applications
14.20: Break-out sessions / discussion time. Exhibits will include equipment and videos from local companies and the UK’s trade association ARPAS-UK and its members.

Sue Wolfe, ARPAS-UK
Sue is one of the founding Directors of ARPAS-UK, the UK’s trade association for small drone operators, manufacturers and related businesses. She has over 13 years’ experience in UAV systems and their applications, including development of agricultural and forestry applications and more recently AIRSTART, a national collaborative UAV project developing technology to support routine operation of UAVs Beyond Visual Line of Sight.
Matt Harmsworth, ROAVR
Matt is based in Inverness and runs the unmanned aviation specialists ROAVR | UAS. He is a qualified environmental consultant with an interest in aviation as well as being a ground school and flight instructor for UAV-Air.
